Burnout remains a key problem in the workplace. Did you know that in the UK, one in four people (24%) said they felt ‘unable to manage stress and pressure in the workplace’? The issue is, we are not yet equipped with the right tools to help us know, and manage ourselves. We are told about “mindfulness”, are asked to meditate and “breathe” but we are not told why and lack context as to why this helps. So how are we supposed to meaningfully implement these tools?
At That’s Mental we believe that one of the keys to managing your mental health is knowing yourself, because we are all different. What does that mean? It means understanding:
- Your tolerance to stress
- What your boundaries are
- The things that trigger you
- Those that energize you
- What your daily routine looks like – are you lacking in certain parts of your life?
Together, all of these contribute to your health and wellbeing, how you feel, and your ability to cope with stress or not. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to burnout and mental health, that’s why it’s important to be in touch with what works and what doesn’t for you.
Today we are launching the burnout checklist: a tool to help you assess your situation. Are you ready?
